I have always loved to travel. I have always dreamed of traveling to far off places. Seeing the country. Standing on mountain tops. Dipping my feet in all of the oceans and beautiful lakes and streams. You could say that I was born with a little bit of wanderlust.
As an incredible bonus, I was lucky enough to find a man that has a bit of wanderlust himself. We have been married for just over two years, and so far we have taken twelve trips, not including day trips just because we are feeling restless. In those twelve trips we have traveled through twenty-eight states, driven (well Sam does the driving) an insane amount of miles, eaten amazing food, shared countless laughs, and made memories to last a lifetime.

Somewhere between laughing about farts and listening to podcasts, something beautiful happens. The world ceases to exist, with its demands of paying the bills and wearing pants, and those two souls in that little car cruising down a random highway find themselves falling a little deeper in love. It’s absolutely amazing how removing the outside noise from a relationship will allow you to focus on the things that are truly important. We allow ourselves to dream about the possibilities of the future. We talk about the things that make us tick. We walk away from every trip a little closer and with hearts full of love and memories.

So get out there. Get out of town, whether it’s a hundred miles or a thousand miles away. Take the time to get away and reconnect, your marriage will thank you!
