2018: Let’s Do This!

“There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” ~ C.S. Lewis

Everyone has heard the phrase “new year new me”, but let’s be honest, just because the calendar has started anew doesn’t mean we can automatically change fundamental things about ourselves overnight! I used to make resolutions! Tons of them! And, I always failed. The only question was how long would it take? A month? A week? An hour? It’s quite laughable when I look back on it now!

Last year I decided to nix setting myself up for failure, and instead embrace a word. My word(s) for 2017 was JOYFUL MINIMALISM.  ( You can read about that here )  Looking back, I would say I was more successful with joyful minimalism than I’ve ever been with resolutions! Throughout the year The Hubs and I embraced getting rid of stuff that had little meaning or brought little joy to our lives, which made our move so much easier!

Looking forward to 2018, I’ve decided my word will be INTENTIONALI want to live my life intentionally. I don’t want to just coast through the day to day, distracted and not fully present. I haven’t entirely figured out what this will look like in the day to day, but I do know that it means being 100% present and in the moment! It is so easy for me to be distracted by cell phones, social media, or getting the perfect picture instead of breathing in the moment. I want to be more intentional with how I spend my time. I want to be intentional and present in my relationships, with The Hubs and the kids. I want to be more intentional with the food I put in my body. I’m sure it won’t always be easy, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy to come by!

I’m looking forward to everything 2018 is going to bring! I’m sure there will be many adventures, big and small! Lessons to be learned! Dreams to dream! Fun to be had!

What are YOU looking forward to in 2018? Do you make resolutions or choose a word? What’s your word?

Until Next Time: Peace, Love & Adventures

Jess xoxo
