Monday Musings

The Carpenters’ song “Rainy Days and Mondays” has been playing on a mental loop today. All day. You know the song. “Nothin’ is really wrong… …Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.” Probably because it’s rainy here in Southwest Michigan today, there was actually a thunderstorm earlier. Oh, and it’s also Monday! After a wonderful weekend, I guess you could say, I have a case of the Mondays!

The Hubs and I like to kick off our weekends with a trip to the local video store and then unwind  with an “Extra Most Best” pizza from Little Caesars and a movie! This weekend the movies were my choice!  Love & Other Drugs with Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway (and my current favorite actress from Vikings, Katheryn Winnick) if you haven’t seen it, I would recommend it! I watched it back in the day, but it had been so long that I had forgotten most of the plot. Josh Gad’s comedic relief and the sexy scenes between Jake and Anne really helped lighten up the somewhat somber story! Another sexy movie we watched was Michael Fassbender’s Shame. It was very well reviewed, and while I did enjoy the story, I wouldn’t give it four stars! It is rated NC-17 and it is filled with nudity and sex, but honestly I felt more sadness and pity for Fassbender’s character than anything. My comedic pics for the weekend were The Wedding Singer, who doesn’t love classic Adam Sandler (it’s a favorite), Leatherheads, you can’t go wrong with a Clooney movie, and Annie Hall. I had never watched a Woody Allen movie before, and I have to say, there’s something about the story and the comedy that made it relatable and quite enjoyable (even if he is a bit of a pervert in real life)! It’s no wonder it’s a classic! I enjoyed all of the movies, and much to The Hubs surprise, not a single Paul Rudd scene was to be had!

Guys! I recently found the most AH-mazing bread recipe and I have been testing it out to share with you! Let me just say…we LOVE it! In the past week we have eaten three loaves! THREE! I’ll have that recipe for you later in the week!! I genuinely intended to try cut out bread and dairy to do a sort of cleanse this month, but I just can’t quit cheese! And honestly, eating good food makes me so happy! (Maybe I’ll try…some day!)

Football! After listening to the Vikings last minute victory against the Saints last weekend, I had been looking forward to the Vikings/Eagles game ALL week! (Disclaimer: I’m a Packers fan so I have little care over the outcome of any of the games since my team had a super crappy season! I guess ONE man can make the whole team! Keep on Keepin on in the off season A-A-Ron!!!) For the first time EVER I found myself rooting for the Patriots! EVER! I have never been much of a fan of Tom Brady, like there has always been too much hype! He’s just a man. Well, I’ve been coming around. He’s a pretty phenomenal quarterback, very talented, and I’m glad they won! (I still can’t believe I’m saying those words!) But…the Vikings/Eagles game….oh my goodness! I’m a Pennsylvania girl, but let’s be clear, I do NOT like the Eagles or the Steelers. I wanted so badly for the Vikings to put the Eagles in their place, but unfortunately I think that Case Keenum just choked! I guess that just means that for the first time, in the history of forever, I’ll be hoping for a New England victory in the Super Bowl!

So, you can see we had a pretty relaxing and low-key weekend! Slow and easy mornings, with coffee in bed! Relaxing afternoons filled with laughs, food and good conversation! Those kind of weekends are usually my favorite! While I’m always down for an adventure, when you’re with the right person, a trip to the movie store can be an adventure!

Who are YOU picking for the Super Bowl? Any movie recommendations? Drop me a comment, I’d love to hear from you! Thanks for stopping by!

Until Next Time: Peace, Love & Adventures

Jess xoxo
